At first glance, the work suggests a fusion of celestial cartography, atomic structure, and surrealist notation—blurring the boundary between the scientific and the mystical.
The repeated motif of elliptical orbits, directional vectors, and particle-like nodes evokes the language of particle physics, yet remains evocatively non-literal. This tension between recognizable form and imaginative abstraction is a hallmark of Pitout’s practice, where the metaphysical meets the methodical.
